Materials Science and Engineering Students

Students enrolled in the MSE department can pursue minors in any of the following areas within MSE:

  • Additive Manufacturing - Learn more about the engineering science that applies to additive manufacturing (also known as 3D printing), from part design through additive processes, to properties and component performance.
  • Electronic Materials - Advances in electronic materials, such as semiconductors, dielectrics and magnetics, are crucial in the progress towards more energy-efficient technologies. Students will learn about the physics, chemistry, synthesis, processing, design, characterization, and applications of a variety of electronic materials and devices.
  • Mechanical Behavior of Materials - This minor will provide students with an understanding of how mechanical behavior plays a role in both the development of new materials and the selection of appropriate materials for existing applications.

In addition to these minors, MSE students are welcome to explore minors and majors within the College of Engineering, and beyond.

College of Engineering Students

Students enrolled in other programs in the College of Engineering are also welcome to pursue the minors mentioned above, or a double major or minor in Materials Science and Engineering.
